About Taxtirement

Taxtirement is a retirement tax planner for iPhone, iPad and Mac, built by an independent developer. It's built on one idea: you should be able to see, and check, every number.

Why it exists

People planning retirement often run two or three planning tools side by side, plus a spreadsheet, and get answers that differ by thousands of dollars without saying why. The decisions behind those numbers, like how much to convert to a Roth this year or when each of you should start Social Security, are hard to undo.

Taxtirement is built for the years when those decisions matter most: the gap between retiring and required distributions, Medicare's income surcharges, and the years after one spouse dies. It works out every year's taxes, explains each number with the rule it comes from, and is checked in public.

What we believe

• Correctness is the product. Every rule comes from the primary source, and every calculation is checked against an independent second implementation and the government's own examples. How we check.
• Show the work. No black boxes: every number opens to its formula, inputs and citation.
• Your data is yours. No account, no server, no analytics. Your plan stays on your devices.
• Estimates, not advice. Taxtirement shows scenarios for you to compare. It never tells you what to buy or sell, and it doesn't refer you to anyone.
• Built to last. Paid by its users through a simple subscription, with no advertising and no selling of data. That pays for the yearly rules updates.
